ICJ MOVES UNHRC AGAINST CHINA FOR ‘COVID-19’ REPARATIONS
Eminent Indian lawyer Dr. Adish C Aggarwala, President of The International Council of Jurists has moved to the United Nations Human Rights Council, (UNHRC) Geneva to take action against China for having committed a grave offenses against humanity by spreading the deadly Corona virus across the world resulting in death of thousands of people in several countries.
In the Petition filed today through electronic means, Dr Aggarwala said that the Chinese government’s inaction in arresting the spread of the virus has resulted in recession across the world and loss of trillions of dollars and rendered jobless to millions of workers in India and rest of the world.
Dr Aggarwala, who is also the Chairman of All India Bar Association(ABA), said that the inaction of Chinese government to arrest the spread of Corona virus has resulted in recession across the world and loss of trillions of dollars. The recession has rendered millions jobless especially in India and rest of the world.
The Complainant has sought the immediate intervention of the UN forum to direct China to pay exemplary damages to the entire world and in particular to India for having caused havoc to the humanity by spreading the COVID-19.
The International Council of Jurists (ICJ) is an International body of Lawyers and Lawmakers having its headquarters in London (U.K.), is involved in research and has been holding conferences and seminars on a wide range of subjects having international and domestic significance, in matters of human rights, constitutional duties and others.
Dr. Aggarwala has drawn the attention of the UN forum to the fact that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared COVID-19 as a pandemic that has spread to at least 170 countries and territories. This pandemic declared by the WHO is primarily due to conspiracy of Chinese government aimed at catapulting itself to the position of a superpower of the World and undermining other countries through biological warfare and gross negligence and incompetence of Chinese government and their authorities to alert the WHO and rest of the world.
The complainant brought to the notice of the UN forum that the response of the Chinese government in dealing with COVID-19 pandemic violated various Charters and Guidelines issued by the United Nations. It has endangered the lives of millions of people and brought the life and business across the globe to complete standstill.
It must be noted that on December 1, 2019, the first patient was identified in Wuhan in China with symptoms of “pneumonia like illness” which gradually spread to other parts of China killing over 3000 people. The Chinese government misled the WHO to believe that COVID 19 is not a pandemic warranting its interference.
The inability of the WHO on time to step in at the right moment to declare COVID-19 as a pandemic has resulted in the death of thousands of people all over the world as the disease has spread to nearly 200 countries.
Dr. Adish Aggarwala, in his complaint said that lack of transparency in dissemination of information relating to the spread of this virus and continued misleading statements had resulted in violation of human rights of the entire global community warranting immediate interference and prompt action against China as mandated under Article 25 (1) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
He said that this action of deliberately withholding significant information pertaining to the virus has led to this global pandemic outbreak and is in direct contravention of the Right to Health provided under Article 25 (1) of the UDHR. The Chinese government also did not sufficiently contain and curb the travel of infected persons from further contaminating the world. This proves that the whole exercise has been to infect the entire world.
He alleged that the Chinese government has meticulously planned the execution and spread of the Novel Coronavirus and the same can be inferred in the way China has taken regard of the situation as also of the curious case of the spread of the virus all over the world.
According to him it remains a mystery as to how the virus has not spread in all provinces of China but at the same time, has spread to all countries in the world. The purpose of developing such a potent and deadly virus remains a secret. However, there are solid evidences to show that the Chinese government intends to utilize the same to take control of the world’s economy.
In these circumstances, he urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to inquire and direct the Government of China to adequately compensate the international community and member states and particularly India, for surreptitiously developing a biological weapon capable of mass destruction of mankind throughout world and also for serious physical, psychological, economic and social harm caused to these States due to the inaction and negligence to respect the international obligations/SNG/LABNews
