The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry will interact virtually with its stakeholders on Funding Schemes on Wednesday, 22nd July 2020, 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.

The objective is to apprise industry stakeholders about various DSIR schemes in detail and their benefits for trade and industry. The session provides an excellent platform to discuss the perception of indigenous industrial research and development leading to Self-Reliant India. The DSIR, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India is to facilitate and support industrial research besides indigenous technology promotion, development, utilisation and transfer. DSIR has been supporting innovative projects directed towards improving the technology and industrial competitiveness of the industry. The DSIR programmes have been catering to all aspects, concerned with the transformation of innovation from mind to market.

The following schemes of DSIR will be discussed in the interactive meeting :

Patent Acquisition and Collaborative Research &Technology Development (PACE) : DSIR through the PACE scheme provides catalytic support to industries and institutions for development and demonstration of innovative product and process technologies, traversing the journey from proof of concept or laboratory stage to pilot stage, so that they can be launched for commercialization. The scheme supports ingenious work and assists in the development of new technologies or creative/innovative application of the existing technologies to solve the unmet needs of the industry. The scheme also strengthens the interface between industry, R&D establishments and academic institutions by supporting collaborative proposals

·        Building Industrial Research & Development and Common Research Facility (BIRD-crf): MSMEs play a pivotal role in the overall industrial economy and have been accepted as the engine of economic growth for promoting equitable development in India and need to be sensitized for translation of public-funded R&D into products and processes, besides the need to enhance the private sector’s share in national R&D expenditure from the present level of 30-35% to over 50%. The Common Research and Technology Development Hubs (CRTD-Hubs) established by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) to provide a platform for demonstration of innovative R&D and technologies by the host institutions and encourage MSMEs to become a part of the innovation ecosystem. Thus, the primary objective of CRTDHs is to encourage more and more MSMEs to take up R&D and innovation.

·        Access to Knowledge for Technology Development and Dissemination: The programme has three components (a) Technology Development and Utilization Programme for Women (TDUPW), (b) Events programme of DSIR provides a platform for the exchange of views among industry, consultancy organizations, academic and research institutions that would lead to useful insights on issues relating to industrial research and technological innovation and help in evolving tools and techniques to remain competitive in today’s business climate and (c) Studies program focuses on to support studies in emerging areas of technology aimed at providing useful information and knowledge base to industry, industry associations, academia, research institutions, consultants, entrepreneurs, research students and policymakers for doing any further work in these areas.
