Naveen Jindal and others granted bail in money laundering case

New Delhi, October 15 (LAB) A Delhi Court today granted bail to Industrialist and Congress Leader Naveen Jindal and 14 others including Six companies on allegations of money laundering in the ongoing Amarkonda Murgadangal Coal Block allocation case in Jharkhand.
Special Judge Bharat Parashar while granting bail to 15 accused including Navin Jindal and his two companies directed them to furnish a personal bond of rupees one lakh and one surety of the like amount each. The Judge directed the accused not to leave the country without prior permission of the court. The judge, however Granted Jindal permission to travel to Japan from October 15-19, 2018 for a business trip and directed him to inform the court on his return.
The other accused granted bail in the case are Rajeev Jain, Anand Goel, Rajeev Aggarwal, Siddharth Madra, Gyan Swaroop, B.S.N Suryanarayanan and Six companies Messrs Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. (JSPL), Messrs Jindal Realty Pvt Ltd, Messrs Gagan Space Iron Pvt Ltd. Messrs New Delhi Exim Pvt Ltd, Messrs Sowbhagya Media Ltd, Messrs Nihar Stocks Ltd.
The case pertains to allegations levelled by Enforcement directorate that Mr Jindal’s JSPL along with others influenced the screening committee to allocate the coal block by paying them more than rupees two crores as illegal gratification.
After the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) which was probing into the irregularities in allocation of Amarkonda Murgadangal coal block in Jharkhand filed its charge sheet the matter was handed over to Enforcement directorate to corroborate the charges. In its final report, filed by public prosecutor Navin Kumar Matta and advocate Tarannum Cheema on August 14, alleged that Naveen Jindal’s firm JSPL along with others influenced the screening committee to allocate the coal block by paying them more than rupees two crores as illegal gratification.LAB.SNG
