South African Dr Coetzee says Most Omicron patients are recovering with simple, easy treatment

South African Medical Association Chairperson Dr Angelique Coetzee, the senior doctor who first identified the variant, informed the media that the line of treatment for Omicron patient is quite easy. After the diagnosis, we start the treatment immediately with low dosage cortisone and something like ibuprofen to help with the muscle pain and headaches and that’s it. that’s it. That’s what we give. There’s nothing else. There’s no oxygen, not even antibodies required she said.

Angelique Coetzee is a South African health expert who works as a general practitioner in Pretoria who currently chairperson of the South African Medical Association In November 2021, Coetzee was the first physician to raise alarm of a possible new variant due to the different clinical symptoms experienced by patients.

India has reported as many as 200 new cases of Omicron, the new variant of Covid-19. Dr Angelique Coetzee said that most patients in her country recovered from the variant with a simple and an easy line of treatment. There is no need of panic she said. /LAB/SNG
